The Red Sox Foundation partners with nonprofits across New England and Lee County, FL, to support the important work of hundreds of organizations in our communities. Our work with programmatic grantees focuses on critical support in health, education, and recreation, and our financial support ranges from $1,000 – $5,000. The Foundation is unable to provide funding for capital campaigns or endowments, as well as any political or religious entities.

Historically, the Red Sox Foundation strives to make a difference in the lives of children, veterans, families and communities in need throughout New England by improving their health, educational and recreational opportunities. Given that 2020 was unlike any other year in recent history, in 2021 we will focus our organization’s efforts on supporting the “Recovery & Rebirth” of Boston, Massachusetts, and New England.

More specifically, we will prioritize organizations that are supporting vulnerable populations with:

  • Food Access
  • Shelter Security
  • Educational Resources (including support for: impacts of remote learning, back-to-school, mental health/SEL, physical activity, learning loss, student engagement, etc.)

In practice, this means that while we will review all requests made to the organization this year, we will focus our resources and support on organizations that are achieving outcomes and success with vulnerable populations across the focus areas of Food Access, Shelter Security, and Educational Resources.

The Red Sox Foundation currently accepts applications for sponsorship for chartered official Little League teams in Rhode Island and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts if recognized as a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity in good standing. Information on our Little League sponsorship application can be found here. The Foundation is currently unable to fund field refurbishments or tournament fees and travel.

Every year, the Red Sox Foundation provides fans in the surrounding New England states with the opportunity to support their favorite nonprofits by nominating organizations to receive a grant through our IMPACT Awards. The theme of the IMPACT Awards changes annually to respond to the evolving need of our communities while staying aligned with the Foundation’s mission. In 2019, the IMPACT Awards focused on organizations that demonstrated an impact on improving health and wellness outcomes in their communities, and you can view the winners here. The 2020 IMPACT theme will be announced in April 2020.

Applications to apply for programmatic funding exceeding $10,000 are by invitation only.
