Our vision is for every young person in New England to have access and opportunity to play baseball and softball. As such, the Red Sox Foundation runs the RBI and Jr. RBI Leagues, which annually serve 2,000 boys and girls, ages 5-18, in Boston. Jr. RBI provides leagues with uniforms and equipment at no cost and supports dedicated coaches who use baseball and softball as a platform to teach core values of sportsmanship and respect.
Thank you for your interest in affiliating with the Red Sox Foundation’s Jr. RBI program. The Red Sox Foundation is proud to support existing baseball and/or softball leagues in Boston serving youth ages 5-12. As a Jr. RBI affiliated program, the benefits to your organization are wide-ranging. Among them, are the following:
- No Affiliation Fee: There is no cost for your organization to affiliate with the Red Sox Foundation Jr. RBI program.
- Free league website with online registration
- Branding: Leagues are able to leverage the Red Sox Foundation brand as a way to increase awareness & participation.
- Uniforms & Equipment: Affiliated leagues can apply to receive uniforms (shirts/jerseys), Red Sox hats, and baseball/softball equipment, including baseballs and/or softballs needed for the season.
- Coach Training: Programs/Leagues can provide their coaches with top-tier training from leading sports based youth development organizations.
- Red Sox Foundation Coaches’ Box: The Red Sox Foundation is revamping and expanding their virtual platform for players, coaches, parents, and administrators of leagues building off of the success of our Coaches’ Box created in 2021.
- Red Sox Tickets: Access to Red Sox tickets at no cost. Your organization will be placed on the Red Sox Foundation’s list as tickets become available. This is based on availability and is not guaranteed due to the nature of ticket availability.
- PLAY BALL Events: Opportunity for youth to participate in the Red Sox Foundation’s local Play Ball Events.
- MLB’s National Skills Competitions: Opportunity to host MLB’s Pitch, Hit, and Run & Jr. Home Run Derby competitions
- Enrichment Activities: Access to additional opportunities that arise throughout the summer including baseball/softball camps, Wally’s Clubhouse, RBI Opening Day & Equipment Drive, and much more!
In order to receive the above benefits, leagues must be in good standing with the Red Sox Foundation. Leagues can remain in good standing by adhering to the following criteria:
- Complete the Jr. RBI Application for Affiliation – Leagues may save and return to their application. Upon saving, you will receive a link to return to the saved application. This application should take about 10-15 minutes to complete.
- Coordinate a time to pick up all equipment/uniforms from Red Sox Foundation staff.
- Request approval from Red Sox Foundation when using the Red Sox Foundation logo.
- All coaches undergo/pass background checks and leagues provide documentation to the Red Sox Foundation.
- Conduct youth surveys provided by the Red Sox Foundation when requested.
- League schedule is preapproved by Red Sox Foundation to ensure minimum engagement.
- League registration fee is discussed with Red Sox Foundation to ensure all interested participants have equal access and opportunity through scholarships must be made available during applicable cases
- Online registration platform
- Coach training, a majority in and participate a Red Sox Foundation coach training
- Share photos from league events or games, as needed.
- Promote good sportsmanship and respect.
Failure to comply can result in termination of affiliation. If there are any changes or updates needed to be made to the request, please email rbi@redsox.com.
DISCLAIMER: It is up to the discretion of the Red Sox Foundation to accept or decline any program’s application for affiliation. If your application for affiliation is accepted, you will receive an email regarding more information. Affiliation officially ends on December 31 of the calendar year accepted and programs must reapply for additional years. Leagues may lose their affiliated status at the sole discretion of the Red Sox Foundation if any of the above criteria are not adhered to, or for any reason the Red Sox Foundation deems detrimental to its Jr. RBI program.
