RED SOX TO HOST WEEKEND DONATION DRIVE FOR VENEZUELA EARTHQUAKE RELIEF
Player Families and Staff to Collect Donations
at Fenway Park Gates During Yankees, Nationals Series
BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox will support those affected by the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela earlier this week. Beginning tomorrow, Saturday, June 27, through Wednesday, July 1, Red Sox player families and staff will collect monetary donations at Fenway Park gates before and during home games. One hundred percent of proceeds will be directed toward disaster relief efforts for those affected by the earthquakes.
Fans wishing to donate can also contribute online through the Red Sox Foundation’s Venezuelan Earthquake Disaster Relief Efforts fund at www.RedSoxFoundation.org/Relief .
The Red Sox organization has deep ties to the Venezuelan community, both within the clubhouse and throughout Red Sox Nation. The Red Sox Foundation is coordinating with Major League Baseball and the American Red Cross, which alongside the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), is working closely with the Venezuelan Red Cross to assist as relief efforts continue.
